- What is LOWDPOA?
- Lake of the Woods District Property Owners
Association is a not for profit association of
residents and cottagers from the Lake of the Woods
District in Northwestern Ontario
- How does the LOWDPOA
operate?
- Activities of LOWDPOA are run by a 17 member
volunteer Board of Directors and an Executive
Director. Board members are selected by a nominations
committee based on their geographic area of their
property as well as interests and expertise. An Annual
General Meeting is held each spring in Winnipeg.

- Water quality monitoring
- Navigation aids

- What are some recent
achievements of LOWDPOA?
- Hosted the first-ever
International Lake of the Woods Water Quality Forum,
February 2004.
- Led the way in Northwestern Ontario for mail in
balloting for municipal elections
- Successfully resisted municipal boundary expansion
plans in the fall of 2003
- The distribution of thousands of tree seedlings to
members - annually
- Over 2000 members have received the Global Position
for their properties
- Protected 486,000 acres of Crown Land in the Lake of
the Woods
- A highly visible "Lake Partner Program"
which helps identify areas of water quality concern on
the lakes
- Algae Watch - a research program that studies algae
samples to help determine toxicity
- Fought hard against the detrimental removal of
navigation aids
