LOWDPOA was pleased to launch the publication Living Green at the Lake Green Cottager Guide at the recent Annual General Meeting & Cottage Show. Special thanks to the Manitoba Chapter of the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society for their willingness to partner with us in this project: providing the foundation for the booklet and allowing us to amend it to focus on Northwestern Ontario and the Lake of the Woods district.
In June 2009 LOWDPOA declared it’s Vision:To preserve one of the most beautiful places on earth as a high quality environment for future generations to enjoy. Less than one year later, we are proud to present this practical guide as a means for each member to embrace our purpose and make the right choices as they enjoy their time at the lake.
Fewer people have a better opportunity to observe the effects of human activities and pollution than cottagers, many of whom return each year to the same location and whose knowledge of the local area may have been passed down for generations. With over half a million cottages in Canada,we can have quite a positive, or negative, impact on the environment.
We hope you find this new publication to be interesting, informative, and filled with practical ideas you can put into action today. Share it with your family and guests – let them know how much you care about your little piece of heaven.
Let’s take the first step and Live Green at the Lake.
