Welcome back to the online version of the Lake of the Woods District Property Owners Association.

I say “Welcome back” because we’ve had a website for at least ten years and we never really did go away. However, we have known for at least five years that it needed a “fix”, but what with our greater concern for a smooth transition from one Executive Director to another and who knows what else, it didn’t get the priority rating it needed.

I would like to thank you folks who came to the Summer Meeting in Kenora that foul weather day last July and told us to make it a priority. That’s what really put it up there on my hit parade.

Our Executive Director, Susan McLeod, has carried the ball on this all Fall and I know she is happy with the outcome. Having said that, she’s looking forward to your comments and ideas. We can always do better. Now comes the challenge of driving members to the renewed website and we’ll be using the Area News and any other means we can. We are pretty pleased with our new look and we know it’s going to help us communicate with you. We don’t intend to change anything with the magazine as we are aware there are lots of people who have not embraced the Internet, so members will still be served as they always were.

You will be able to read late-breaking news on the website, and access environmental best practices. You’ll also be able to link from our website to other important ones when you want to research an item, and you will be able to let us know what you think of the job we are doing and how you think we can improve.

In launching the renewed version of the website, which has been developed by paid staff and a paid contractor, may I also say particular thanks to Todd Sellers who committed countless hours to creating and maintaining our original website over the past ten years. How do you spell commitment? My way has Todd’s name on the front of it.
